Could you pause a moment and think about God’s workers all over the world? Could you pause to think and pray?
Right now, some are riding the highest heights! Amazing things are happening in the work, “God is blessing,” family and friends are all good. Life is good! (Quotes = perception. God is always blessing!)
But others…others are trudging through. Things are not going well. The ministry isn’t going well, or there may be sickness, lack of money, or demonic warfare that they are unequipped to handle. Some are cut off & isolated. Life is hard & God “seems” distant! Some contemplate quitting. This very hour, some will quit for good.
Can we change that dynamic? Could we help them get through a tough day/week/month/year Yes. Yes we can. Would you like to help? Here’s how….
First, pray for them–especially pray for the ones you know. Pray, as Paul said, “with understanding.” Don’t just pray general prayers. Pray specific prayers. Ask the Lord to teach you to pray for your fellow workers in the Harvest.
Second, be a friend to those you know. Make contact regularly. Develop a relationship that says, “You can tell me about your hard days & struggles & I won’t freak out. I’ll pray, & I’ll help.” Do life together!
Third, for pastors and ministry leaders: please don’t wait until there is a crisis to notice that your worker needs help! Do your leader’s job in prayer, and be discerning. Cultivate family and openness. Commit to grace, ongoing discipleship, and be (or become) a safe place for help.
Last, know that some of God’s workers are damaged to the point of needing a break from ministry. They love Jesus, and they wanted so badly to serve, but their past is tripping them up. They were not adequately prepared. It’s not a “forever quit." Everybody in the family has a job to do; a joyful contribution in the Father’s “family business!” No, it’s a time of renewal and healing so they can get back up, serve successfully, healthily, with joy, and bear much fruit!
If you have accepted my request, let me just add this: any prayer for our precious Brazilian missionaries, serving in some of the most difficult mission fields on the planet, would be most appreciated!
God bless you!
Simeon
